Fluconazole
Diflucan fluconazole is an anti-fungal used to treat fungal infection. The most common type of fungal infections are thrush (in the mouth) and yeast (in the vagina) infections. Diflucan Fluconazole is also used to treat pneumonia, meningitis, and fungal infections of the mouth, throat, liver, kidneys, heart, urinary tract, and abdomen.
Diflucan fluconazole comes in tablet and liquid form and usually taken by mouth. It is usually taken once a day. It works by By disrupting key cellular processes in yeast and other fungus and slowing down growth and reproduction of yeast or fungal cells in low doses. With higher doses, Diflucan fluconazole will destroy yeast and fungal cells directly.
Diflucan fluconazole has not be studied extensively for its effects on pregnancy or infants. Consult your doctor if you think if you are pregnant or considering becoming pregnant. Diflucan fluconazole passes through breast milk , therefore do not take it if you are breastfeeding or stop breastfeeding while taking the medication.
Diflucan Fluconazole and HIV
Fluconazole (generic diflucan) is used when fungal infections can't be treated with skin lotions or creams. It works against several different types of fungus, including the yeast infection called candidiasis or thrush. A healthy immune system can fight the infections. HIV infection weakens the immune system. The yeast infection candidiasis, or thrush, is fairly common and even more common and serious in people with HIV. Diflucan Fluconazole has been approved to treat both of these infections among people with HIV.
Interaction with Other Drugs
Fluconazole is usually processed by the kidneys. It does not interact that much with drugs that use the liver, including most antiviral drugs used to fight HIV. However, fluconazole does interact with several other types of drugs. These include some blood thinners, seizure medications, water pills, pills to lower blood sugar, and other antibiotics. It is important to consult your doctor if you are taking any other medicaitons.
Diflucan dosage is available in several forms, for example: 200mg diflucan, 150mg diflucan, 100mg diflucan, and 50mg diflucan is available. Fluconazole is the active ingredient for generic diflucan.
