Zyprexa (olanzapine) is an atypical anti-psychotic medication approved by the FDA for the treatment of schizophrenia in September 1996. Zyprexa olanzapine was also approved for the treatment of acute bipolar mania in 2000. The medication is available in the following dosage: 2.5 mg, 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 15 mg and 20 mg tablets. These coated tablets should not be split or crushed since the coating can become quite sharp once broken by hand.
